The Peasant Marey uses first person narration which allows the reader to arrive at what the narrator wants to say in this short story. Through the story of Marey, the Russian peasantry is portrayed in a very positive unprejudice way. The story attempts to ameliorate the general image of Russian peasants at the time and it acheieves its goal somewhat. The manner in which Marey treats the boy Dostoevsky is remarkable. This shows his great culture, good manners and kindness.
